Relaunch 2023

Salisbury Saintes Twinning Association lunch on 18th January 2023

On Wednesday 18th January the Salisbury Saintes Twinning Association held a lunchtime event to celebrate the twinning and the return to normal after the pandemic.  The lunch was held in the lovely Garden Room at the Riverside Hotel on the Harnham Road, with its spectacular view over the river towards the cathedral, although at the time the river was a lake.

Twenty-two members attended the buffet lunch and were joined by our current President, the Mayor, Councillor Tom Corbin and our next President, Deputy Mayor, Councillor Atiqul Hoque.  After lunch our Chairman, Mervyn Pannett, gave an illustrated talk to the members about some less well-known facts about our French twin town.

Twinning is an important way for the two communities to foster cultural, educational and commercial ties as well as building long term friendships between the two.  The twinning association would welcome new members who are interested in learning more about Saintes, a beautiful and historically interesting town in the Charente Maritime Department.
