ROMAN ARTEFACTS from SAINTES

Exhibition from Saintes at Salisbury and South Wilts Museum, 65 The Close.

In this important new venture the Museum has sent Stonehenge-related items to the Archaeological Museum in Saintes and in return received a fine selection of Roman artefacts. These are beautifully displayed, together with art works from Saintes, upstairs in the small gallery next to the costumes. The exhibition was opened by the SSTA President, Mayor Cllr Penny Brown, on 26th July. We owe a huge debt to Adrian Green, Museum Director, for delivering and fetching these artefacts, and for his enthusiastic support. The Stonehenge exhibition in Saintes has been enjoying a lot of interest and we know members will want to come and see the Saintes exhibits here.
