After 62 days of blazing sunshine and draught, the annual SSTA BBQ began at 12 noon on Thursday 20th August. So, of course, did the rain! Were we downhearted? Of course not! Cindy and Roger had anticipated the change in the weather so there were tables laid both outside in the garden and indoors, so everybody could stay dry. Apart, that is, from Mervyn who had to man the BBQ in the rain.
After the main course was over the sun came out and we were able to eat dessert in the garden. So that brings me to an important point, we must thank everyone who contributed lovely salads to go with the BBQed meat and the delicious puddings that magically kept arriving.
Along with the 20 SSTA members who attended, we were delighted that our President, Jenny Bolwell and her Consort Tom Corbin could join us. Along with Sheila Warrender, Atiqul Hoque and John Wells we had five Presidents and ex- Presidents at the BBQ.
We are so grateful to Cindy and Roger hosting our annual BBQ once again, they ensured that we had a wonderful lunch and gathering of old friends. Thank you both so much.
